Best Practices for Earth Hour.

The Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Avondale (PHXAV) as every year participated in Earth Hour. However, this year they added a twist and being sold out that evening decided to get the guest involved in participating in Earth Hour.

The hotel team and Great American Grill staff distributed glow sticks to each occupied room with a coupon to come down to the bar to receive a Penny Drink. The Great American Grill then had a special drink call the “The Glow Worm” and wrapped each individual glass with a glow bracelet which reflected into the drink. The entire hotel turned off lights in the lobby area and dimmed lights in additional areas of the hotel and lined the bar with candles to enhance the mood. The hotel was fortunate to have a basket tournament in that weekend along with Spring Training Guest whom all thought this was a fantastic idea and partook in earth hour. Due to these collaborated efforts by all, the hotel generated $1,500.00 in additional revenue that evening in the lounge and had a great time socializing with the guest!!
