Cat Cafe at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa, UAE.

Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa, UAE, in conjunction with the Ras Al Khaimah animal welfare centre, have set up cat café’s in order to keep the cats away from the guest areas. The Housekeeping department is responsible for ensuring the cafés are refreshed twice a day. A Cat Café is a designated feeding area for stray cats. It attracts cats to a carefully selected location to aide in avoiding conflicts with people, roads, offices, hotels etc. In Ras Al Khaimah they are supported with a cat care and control program by RAK AWC, who will vaccinate, desex, and release healthy cats back to where they were trapped. Studies and experience have shown that simply removing cats will not solve problems an area might have with stray cats. As long as a source of food, water and shelter remains available, others will soon take the place of the cats removed. If, instead, a stable colony of sterilized and medically attended cats is permitted to stay on the premises, this will prevent newcomers from moving in and also keep rodents, snakes, scorpions etc, at bay.
