Capturing Local Business by Reaching Out to the Comminity.

My hotel needed a revenue boost for weekends, due to the fact that we are primarily a corporate travel/weekday-oriented hotel. My idea for boosting revenue was to reach out to the community for things like weddings, bar mitzvahs, and other social events that ususally take place on weekends. Our community is heavily Jewish, and I knew that going around to each of the local synagogues and temples would definitely highten our chances of increased potential revenue for weekends, and it has. I would advise all hotels to consider the local community as a valuable resource, especially in this economy where people are cutting out the long-distance travel as part of their budgets.
