Hilton Hotel and Suites Niagra Falls/Fallsview, Canada
Hilton Fallsview celebrated Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential lights in the lobby and other common areas. We encouraged our Guests to participate by turning off the lights in their rooms. Guests were notified about this event at check-in and a video was played on the televisions behind the front desk to help spread the word.
We decided to do the same children’s activity as last year since we got such great feedback from the Guests! We found environmental colouring sheets online and created a small colouring book to keep the kids busy while they ate at our restaurants. We printed the sheets double sided so that we only used one piece of paper for each book, and didn’t waste too much paper. This activity also tied into Bright Blue Futures- as it was used to teach the children about the importance of being environmentally friendly.
We would like to thank our staff for their enthusiasm about the environment- and of course our Guests who helped participate in this event!
Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel, South Korea:
To share the meaning of Earth Hour with many people and encourage a lot of participations, we decided to practice it at Seoul Station on March 21, 2013(two days before Earth Hour). Seoul Station is the most famous landmark near our hotel and has a large floating population all day. Therefore, it is a perfect place for maximization of promotion effects.
On March 21, we had a monthly Blue Energy Committee meeting and then started off to carry out our plan with all committee members. With Earth Hour pickets and cookies prepared, we exerted all the endeavors to let many people passing by know about the meaning of Earth Hour. Since there are a lot of the homeless at Seoul Station, we especially tried to give many cookies to them. As we had expected, so many pedestrians showed their interest in Earth Hour and the campaign was finished successfully.
