Why is this Team Member deserving of the CEO Light and Warmth Award?
Cassie’s Team Members were excited to write a nomination for her, detailing her tenure of almost 23 years. She has consistently proven herself to be a dedicated, upbeat, hard-working, determined, and civic-minded Team Member. She is described as being the very best any of them have ever seen at what she does. She takes ownership of any project she is given, making sure organization is a top priority. She is concerned with helping any guest or Team Member who seems to be in need. She is the “voice of the people” and gets her fellow Team Members involved in hotel events and creating team-building opportunities to build positive morale. She is an active member of the community, giving much of her time to help others.
Specific examples that show Cassie’s commitment to the Hilton Worldwide values:
Cassie found out that one of her coworkers was getting married at a courthouse and wasn’t going to be able to afford a celebration to accompany her big day. Cassie rallied the troops, calling in favors from all over the hotel to assure the bride had a special day. She had people volunteer to do her hair and makeup, bring flowers, make a cake, provide a bottle of champagne and take photos at the event. Because of Cassie, this Team Member had a day to remember. Cassie is a very active member of the CARE committee, attending every meeting and spending much of her free time helping others. She has fed the homeless, gathered old linens, and collected canned foods, among other things. She participates in the March of Dimes walk each year and rallies her coworkers to take part. She also walks in the Martin Luther King Day parade in Cocoa and encourages her coworkers to do the same. When the roof blew off of the local Cocoa Beach Playhouse, Cassie appealed to the hotel team to help her clean up the shingles from the ground around the Playhouse. When an astronaut was staying at the hotel for a big public event at which he was speaking, he contacted Cassie when he realized he’d forgotten to bring a tie with him. Cassie quickly jumped to action, combing the lost and found until she was able to bring him a collection of ties to choose from. Cassie has been privileged to win the Brevard Hospitality Specialist of the Year award as well as the Heroes of the Brand Promise award. She was nominated for the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year award in 2010 and is a Spirit of CARE winner.
