We decided to do something each weekday for the housekeepers. Monday started with fresh donuts and a drawing for two movie tickets. We got everyone excited and told them to look forward to a week full of surprises and activities and let them know how much we appreciate them.
Tuesday our Management team came in early and decorated the girls housekeeping carts with balloons, streamers and candy. The morning also started with a drawing for a bath gift set.
Wednesday we had a housekeeping lunch in our breakfast lounge and presented our Executive and Assitant Executive housekeers with a gift and card from the crew for all of their hard work.
Thursday was the day everyone was waiting for. We started the morning with another drawing for movie tickets, and then in the afternoon we had a Manager vs. Assistant Manager competition. The General Manager and the Executive Housekeeper teamed up and the Assistant General Manager and the Assistant Executive Housekeeper teamed up. We had two rooms on the top floor that each had double queen beds in them. Each of us had to make a bed to standard and then when the team was done we had to race downstairs into the laundry room and fold a bin of towels together. When the bin was folded we had to run outside, one person put on a helmet and the other person pushed them through an obstacle course set up in the back parking lot on a luggage cart. The first team to cross the finish line won…..the Manager’s won.
Friday morning started with another drawing for a gift bath set, and we surprised the girls with a massage therapist. Each girl went down for 10 minutes during their shift and got a massage in the chair. They loved this surprise!! We felt that by the end of the week everyone knew how much we appreciated them, and we received a lot of feedback how much the girls appreciated our efforts to show them this.
