A fabulous and an innovative idea that was introduced by our engineering team at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa has managed in increase the boiler temperature to over 90 degrees, and save the hotel 47K yearly as well reduce the carbon footprint. As we know, laundry machines produces a lot of steam due to the hot water cleaning and the steam pressing machines. This steam is released into the atmosphere through an outlet on the wall. Guests seeing this do not know what it is, and often connect it to harmful gasses being let into the air. Even the wall next to this kept on getting damaged and needing repair every week. The Engineering department has now re-designed these steam valve pipes, and instead of leaving it as waste in open, we diverted the pipe line to the boiler feed water tank. This has increased the water boiling set temperature from 70 degrees Celsius to now 90 degrees. As per estimated statistics, the resort will be saving 27,242 liters of fuel every year having cost saved up to AED 47,674. This will not only impact cost savings, but will also reduce our carbon footprint by 40,363 Kg annually. Well done, team. This is an amazing initiative, and we are proud to have you part of our lovely resort team.
