CHOOSE WISELY CAMPAIGN
In continued support to EWS-WWF global campaign to stop and combat overfishing,Hilton F&B outlets stopped serving Hammour dishes on their menus.
It was announced in our Facebook site during the Earth hour period as a highly acclaimed sustainability lifestyle or initiative of our hotel.Consumer awareness is a crucial step in preventing overfishing; by choosing to serve sustainable fish only, we can lower the demand for threatened species.
******OVERFISHING as a global and local problem********
Overfishing is the practice of catching more fish than what the oceans can sustain, depleting the number of fish in a population.
Worldwide, as well as in the United Arab Emirates, too many fish are being taken out too soon, leaving them little opportunity to reproduce to ensure that they remain for future generations. Unless a more cautious approach to fisheries management is adopted, studies predict a collapse of all species fished out for food by 2048.
By CHOOSING WISELY, We hold the key to a more sustainable future.
The Choose Wisely campaign is endorsed by the Ministry of Environment and Water of the United Arab Emirates
