Encouraging Teamwork Through a Gingerbread Incentive.

This past month (December) I introduced a “team challenge” that included all staff members to participate in creating Gingerbread Houses. Each team had two weeks to complete the project with very few limitations and/or requirements. Each team would place their gingerbread house on a decorated table located in the lobby for our guests to view. In addition, each team took it upon themselves to get our guests “pumped” about what they were doing prior to placing the houses on display. It was a fantastic experience for everyone! The creations were made of gingerbread: a village and a tree house. Anytime our guests entered or exited the hotel through the lobby they were able to see the houses. My Team Members continue to reflect on the experience often, and we still talk about teamwork and how important it is.

I saw these gingerbread houses and they were wonderful. Jennifer was a GM that made her staff feel they were worth alot. She would go out of her way to help each department to work as a team and then she would take it to the next step by making sure the entire hotel worked as a team. When it came to the guest Jennifer be around so the guest knew that she was there if they needed her. If a guest would be upset about something she would write a small card to let them know that she knew what had happened and that it would be taken care of. She was a GREAT GM who really about the Hampton/ Hilton brand!
