Everybody Loves Mr. SALTY at Hilton New Orleans Riverside, LA.

We have a weekly award amongst departments called Mr. SALTY! Mr. SALTY is awarded to the department each week with the most improved SALT score percentage. Mr. Salty is awarded to the department at a surprise, impromptu (less than 10 minutes) ceremony where the General Manager, Resident Manager, and key department heads bring the Mr. SALTY trophy, as well as individual bags of pretzels, for each Team Member. The winning department for that week gets to keep Mr. SALTY displayed in their department for the entire week. Team members love to see Mr. SALTY and take their picture with him!

The Mr. SALTY trophy & program has definitely impacted our SALT scores. Team members are more aware of their department’s scores, and are interested in how they can raise them so that they can get Mr. SALTY. It is a friendly competition between departments that really has very little cost involved.

It is Amazing to see how some of us have the same ideas! We are doing the same thing! and we also called it “THE SALTY CUP” We are tracking scores monthly on helpfulness only, so far our salt scores have improved! We came up with this idea back on October of last year, but actually implemented the program on January 2011! Carol Drury, Housekeeping Supervisor and I talked to Mr Tom Kos The General Manager about this idea he actually loved it! Every Month The department who raise the best SALT scores for the month gets to display ‘THE SALTY CUP” and will try to keep it on their position until a new department takes it away! A board has been place at the employee cafeteria room, for everybody to see and follow the scores!
