The whites were out in force at the Meydan Racecourse last January 4, 2013, when Dubai took over a Guinness World Record from South Korea for the most number of dressed chefs in one sitting. Among them were SEVENTY (70)chefs from Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resortand Residences and Hilton Dubai Creek. The delegates joined 2,845 colleagues at the record breaking event as part of an initiative organised by the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and the Emirates Culinary Guild.
In addition to being an amazing spectacle, the chefs had a more serious purpose in taking part in the launch of the Emirati Cuisine initiative. The aim was to promote Emirati food both to visitors and UAE residents, and they succeeded by cooking the most delicious Loukmath (a popular fried sweetmeat) in a massive quantity. They cooked up 73,055 pieces of loukmath, this feat has now been submitted to officials to be recognised as a new world record.
The event took place on the anniversary of the accession of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as ruler of Dubai, and is just one of more than 100 Guinness World Records held by the emirate, including the world’s biggest kebab and longest line of sandwiches. It was a great event to meet thousands of colleagues from different countries and hotels. The plan was to break the first record by gathering more than 2112 Chefs in Uniforms at Meydan Race Course. And they invited all chefs and cooks from UAE who work in Hotels, Restaurants, Catering Companies, Clubs or Private Homes. Our Executive Chef Frank Noack led the Hilton delegation with his powerhouse Kitchen Team together with volunteer -chefs -alike from Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Recreation, Finance, Kitchen, and Admin Office.
Way to go TEAM this 2013! Just like Dubai, it is an integral part of our cluster hotels to enjoy the reputation of prestigious international and forerunner of achievements and records.
