Just a few snapshots of some of the fun ways we celebrated International Housekeeping Week with our team. Photos below!
Monday: We kicked off the week with an afternoon cupcake break where we met and discussed the upcoming events for the week.
Tuesday: Our management team flipped homemade pancakes on a griddle for breakfast; all departments were invited.
In the afternoon the girls competed for lottery tickets and candy bars by seeing who could make the fastest rollaway bed and by teaming up for a toilet paper toss.
Wednesday: During the team lunch break, the girls competed in a trivia contest. Not only were there familiarization questions about the hotel and its’ background, we challenged the girls to learn a little more about the community in which we live. Questions were centered around what Bartlesville has to offer our leisure guests. What are the events and activities that draw people to our town? Prizes were gift cards to area merchants, lottery cards and $25 cash prize.
Thursday: In the afternoon the girls competed to earn the title of “Fastest Pillow Stuffer”. With a winning time of 35 seconds, Maria Melendez won the title for the 2nd year in a row. The girls also paired up for a tennis ball toss using pillow cases. The girls were not allowed to touch the balls with their hands, instead using the pillowcases to both toss and catch the balls. When they were done the girls were given 45 minutes to hand paint their cases with a theme of their choice.
Friday: Each housekeeper was encouraged to bring homemade salsa. At lunchtime management and hotel owners provided an all staff taco bar. Attendees were asked to judge the salsa brought in during a blind taste test. The only rule was that if you were going to be a judge, you had to be willing to test ALL entries to keep things fair. With eyes watering, this was a challenge for some of us. ☺ The winning salsa maker took home a new blender in hopes that she would continue to randomly provide the rest of us with homemade salsa from time to time.
Saturday: Saturday morning the girls were surprised by Goody Bags filled with drinks, snacks, candy and personalized thank you cards signed by all hotel team members, management and ownership.
Just a footnote. My staff of 12 housekeepers range in service from 3-7 years. Many have been here since the doors opened. There is nothing they won’t do and they are very loyal hardworking girls.
