Making the Most of Department Shout-Outs!

Encourage your team to “shout-out” a fellow team member during your next departmental meeting or huddle! Shout-outs are our time to recognize each other and say thank you. There are three rules: 1. Positive 2. Specific 3. Public. We often share our kudos to each other in emails or thank you notes, it’s time to make them public!

If this is your first time featuring shout-outs at a meeting, enlist four to five volunteers the day before the meeting. Ask your volunteers to think about the past two days and determine who they would like to thank. Your team is sure to catch on after a few examples.

The Script:
– Meeting Organizer: It’s time for “shout-outs!”
– Group: Shout-outs
– Team Member: I would like to give a shout-out to (name) for (reason). (Name) you make me want to shout THANK YOU!
– Group: Clap and cheer

Be consistent and make it an activity for every meeting!
