How We Celebrated Housekeeping Week at Hampton Inn Lexington VA Historic District.

To make things funny this year, I purchased “loser” trophies from CrownAwards.com to give to the person each day that came in last place.

On the 9th, we had a What’s Missing race, where I took things out of a room (10 things) and each housekeeper was timed to see how long it took them to put the missing things back into the room. The winner received a $25 visa gift card, and I made oreo truffles for everyone on the staff.

On the 10th, we had a “One Arm Bandit” game, where each housekeeper had one hand tied behind their back and had to stock a bathroom. Winner received a basket of Yankee Candles, everyone received a lunchbag from positive promotions.

On the 11th, we had a tissue race….everyone was given a box of tissues and had to see who can pull them out, one by one, the fastest. Winner got a basket filled with Steel Magnolias (my favorite movie, and that movie is where I got the idea to name my soon to be daughter Shelby), popcorn, and Snocaps. I gave out homemade cookies to my staff.

On the 12th, we played a game of What’s Missing in the laundry room. I removed several items from the laundry room and gave them 2 minutes to write down what was missing. Winner got a laundry basket filled with detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and stain pre treater. Everyone got a gift bag with dishcloths and dawn dish liquid in it.

On the 13th, we had our Make a Bed Blindfolded game. Our General Manager, Sales Manager, and Conference person joined in for this one. Everyone was paired up and the neatest bed got movie gift cards for the winners. I gave out Bath and Body Works shower gel to all, and also made the whole hotel staff a lunch of spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread.

On the 14th, we had a quiz on all of the public areas of the hotel and the winner received a basket filled with goodies. This was the last day for one of our housekeepers, so to say goodbye we had a meatball sub lunch with a Reese’s Cup (homemade by me) cake for her and we sang to her while she was tied to a chair.

On the 14th we played Toilet Brush Bullseye, where everyone was given 6 toilet brushes to try to throw into a toilet seat hung from the ceiling. The winner got a $25 gas card, everyone received lottery tickets.

At the end of the week, my staff presented me with a gift of 2 gift cards from my favorite places to eat lunch, a candle, some Skittles and a big Hershey bar (my favorite!). We had an awesome week and look forward to next year!
