Incentivizing Our Team, and Increasing HHonors Enrollment Over 600%!

Since our “Enroll Every Guest” incentive started, I kept thinking of ways to encourage my team to do their best on it. I found that the best way is first to recognize their efforts. Therefore, I created a competition for the team, with the best performer receiving a prize (a digital camera) at the end of December 2010. I would like to say that the response was unbelievable. We jumped from 20 or 30 enrolments per month to an average of 190! On the last update for Q3, the team achieved the rank of 144 in enrolling guests out of all Hilton Worldwide hotels.

Based on this, I revised the competition conditions so that all participants will be winners. There were prizes for all based on performance. I would like to stress on this matter that team members responded no only because of the digital camera. I saw for myself team members cooperating in one enrollment (team spirit). They were recognized on a daily basis using a daily update that I hang on the department notice board. I will give away my last secret – at the end of the year, I am preparing for a big recognition party for all of them to thank them for their efforts.

Really, when the team feels recognized, they will deploy every single effort they have.
