Be sure to recognize the Team Members who keep us safe and our hotels secure!
Regardless of whether or not your hotel has a designated Safety and Security team, the wellbeing of guests, Team Members, and the hotel is up to everyone! To keep everyone sharp, hold a weekly or bi-weekly meeting to brush up on safety protocol and tips. At your next gathering, mention these tips:
PRIORITY. Put Safety and Security in the top three areas of importance at your hotel. Safety and Security is everyone’s job!
AWARENESS. Make hotel safety a big part of orientation and refresh Team Members at a weekly or bi-weekly meeting. Make it start on Day One and continue every day after that.
EMPOWERMENT. Believe in your Safety and Security Team Members! Keep them active and motivated with games like Safety Bingo and other incentives.
COMMUNICATION. One of the most important things you can do is spend time walking and talking. Keep up to date by communicating with Team Members who keep your hotel safe. Also, make sure safety orientation materials are in English and Spanish.
DETAILS. Use a detailed Manager On Duty checklist to spot existing and potential issues, initiate work words, and resolve problems. Turn it in at the end of every shift and share it with other managers.
Great safety and security is just as important and great service! When it’s done right, everyone from guests to Team Members will appreciate it.
