Kick Start Your Day with Recognition!

Managers, what’s the first thing you do when you get to work? Tackle that stack of paperwork in your office? Sip coffee at your desk? If your first action isn’t walking the floor to engage Team Members, you’re missing a great recognition opportunity.

Team Members may not know that you have a looming deadline or woke up with a stomachache. They may interpret a brusque demeanor as you being angry or upset, which might lead to distressed Team Members. As a manager, every interaction (or lack of interaction) with your team affects morale and performance.

Recognition is the best way to start the day. Before you start your tasks, walk the hotel and engage every Team Member you see. Something as simple as a cheery “Good morning! How are you?” or “You brighten our mornings!” is the perfect way to motivate Team Members, make them feel noticed, and set the tone for the rest of the day.

Ready to kick mornings up a notch? Go to our Recognition Library to print off certificates for your team. Present them to Team Members along with surprise coffee and doughnuts, or use them to honor your team at your next morning rally.
