Making Wishes Come True at Hilton Budapest Westend, Hungary.

Do you remember the words of Kevin from Home Alone Movie? “Will you please tell Santa that instead of presents this year, I just want my family back?” Probably this could be only wish what the guests and the Team Members of Hilton Budapest WestEnd would not be able to make come true.

All other wishes of the 44 orphan children who are living in the SOS Children Village in Battonya, 200 km South-East of Budapest in a rather poor area of Hungary, were presented thanks to our guests and our Team Members.

In this year as well to support children in need with a Christmas gift there was a wish tree placed in Hilton Budapest WestEnd’s lobby between 25th November and 18th December. It was decorated with wish-cards drawn by children. Guests or even Team Members could take a card and buy the on the card drown toy and make a child’s wish come true. We were able to fulfil all the wishes whether it was a teddy bear, a red boot, a warm sweater, a winter coat or a little car with a remote control.

On the 19th December the generous surprises were brought by the hotel’s Team members to Battonya. Not only us but also the children made a surprise: they created an amazing performance with dance and songs.

Words are not enough to express how happy the little inhabitants were when the gifts were handed over, which were collected with love by the hotel guests and Team members. And when we saw the blissful faces we realized what is the main meaning of Christmas: “The real happiness of Christmas is not found in what we get, but what we give”.
