As part of Mother’s Day activities, the Blue Energy Committee engaged with Child Survival India, which focuses on Maternal & Child Health. The committee interacted with pregnant woman in the Bhagwan pura slum. The Child Survival India team educated the women on key issues like sanitation, health, condition of community complex toilets. There was one anganwadi worker. Anganwadi workers basically bring health care to rural areas and slums.
She educated the expectant mothers through graphic books on immunization against tetanus, regular visits to the government doctors, government hospitals where free aid is available, health care during pregnancy, prenatal and antenatal care. The committee had organized for one of our chefs to demonstrate cooking healthy food, like sprouts, lentils, salads which is nutritious for mother and baby. The expectant mothers keenly listened to the recipes and tasted them.
The committee distributed Protinex to all mothers, a nutritional supplement to pregnant and lactating mothers. Our housekeeper, Shiv Maini, took all the discarded bed sheets and distributed them. All the mothers were treated to healthy pasteurized juices, sandwiches, and bananas. They were explained the benefits of taking the Protinex supplement as they do not have any calcium intake in the natural diet. We gave them toys and clothes for the new borns. It was a fantastic Mother’s Day celebration for the team at Hilton.
