Reduce, Reuse, Recycle at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa.

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” has become the new slogan of the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa, and what better way to show of our skills than to have a mega recycle event that engages guests and Team Members, as well has an impact on our mother earth on the World Recycle Day?!

On the 15th of November 2014, as part of the World Recycle Day at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa, we started with the front office, where the team made paper envelopes and key card holders from recycled newspapers and magazines. The guests were given the choice to either use the recycled items or the normal items. The team of eight from Magic (Telephone Operators) spent three days developing fancy designs from the magazines and newspapers to intrigue the guests into opting for the recycled material.

This was not only it; the other departments wanted to show off their skills in making items out of discarded items. A special competition was held to bring out the creativity of our team to change discarded material into pieces of art. The team was so amazing at creating chandeliers from bottles, beach bags from discarded towels, doormats, paper dresses, paper bags, a paper swan plastic spoon chandelier, bed side table decorations in black and gold, a sofa from reused wood and tyres, a dressing mirror from water bottle caps and a discarded room mirror, and wall-mounted flower pots from light bulbs.

The competition was won by the Engineering department that made approximately 13 items. All the items made by the team were displayed in the lobby of the resort for the guests to buy. A total of over 45 Team Members took part in the event, each one trying to outdo the other with their creativity.

That was not all: at the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa, we pride ourselves of being a family resort. The event will never be complete without an activity for the children. At our Kids’ Club, our five Team Members taught 15 children the importance of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
