During our Customer room meeting, it was decided to find a new, fun and easy way to increase the SALT awareness in our hotel. We decided to create a SALT scoreboard which could be placed in our back of house. With the help of our Engineering team, the SALT notice board was created. The cost was limited to the cost of the carpenter’s salary and the wood that was purchased.
Since we have put this SALT notice board on display, team members are more interested in our SALT scores.They stop to look at it and ask questions during their departmental briefings. It has become an effective way to increase SALT awareness. It is updated on a weekly basis and the smiley face will show us where we stand in our scores. We created green happy faces to use when a score is exceeding the target, a yellow smiley face when the target is met and a red smiley face when the score is below the target.
We are planing to implement the same SALT board in our second property, the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and SPA.
We recognised the Engineers who were involved by issuing them certificates of appreciation, nominating them for Starbonds and sending a photo of their hard work to Recognition Matters.
