Warmest Greetings from Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

Elaine Poh,
Hilton Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We had a fantastic week at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur during the International Housekeeping Week from 14 to 18 September 2009, where our team members from Housekeeping and Stewarding Department were recognised for their hard work and effort at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

On the first day, Team Members from both departments gathered at their respective departments to launch the event with a few game competitions. The event was officiated by Irma Andaya, Director of Human Resource and Jacqueline Chong, Executive Housekeeper with a short opening speech.

“The main purpose of International Housekeeping Week is to appreciate our Team Members’ daily contributions to the hotel. Their hard work, continuous efforts and determination to ensure every room is made up to tip top condition have definitely contributed a lot to the property. Meanwhile, we believe there is a balance of everything we do, hence, by working hard as a team; we are going to play even harder as a team this week with all the game competitions” said Jacqueline Chong. Aside for the fun factor, the game competitions are set to encourage interactive session among Team Members by infusing their daily skills in the game. Game competitions lined up for both teams are Bed Making Competition, Pillow Race, Towels Folding, Folding of Shirt, Room Inspection, Polishing Silverware and Scrubbing Machine Race just to name a few.

Representing the Stewarding Department, Executive Chef Boni Mansi commented Stewarding Department is equally important in providing the best experience by making sure all guests in the hotel are given quality checked and clean utensils before presenting to them and thus the team is also involved in this week long celebration. At the end of each competition, winners were presented a gift with certificate of appreciation by William Costley, General Manager of Hilton Kuala Lumpur. “Our appreciation to the hard working Team Members does not exist only for a week, it lasts for the whole year round while reward program like “Star Bond” is given out to Team Members who have made an inspired moment or walk the extra mile to deliver the finest guest experience.” said Mr Costley during the gift presentation session.
