Winning The Luxury of Being Yourself™ Nominations.

Special skills and direct results make this a winning nomination. It shows off the Team Member’s unique skills AND their daily accomplishments, such as keeping a positive attitude and learning new skills. Most importantly, the nomination shows results and what impact the Team Member makes, including values such as teamwork and ownership, tangible results such as sewing uniforms, and measurable results such as $6,000 in additional hotel revenue.

Joining Conrad Hong Kong in 1990, Yvonne CHAN has served the hotel for 20 years with a break between 1991 and 1993. As Manager of Laundry, Linen & Uniform, Yvonne has always been customer-focused and taken business as her first priority. A classic example is that once there was a gentleman who was so tall that no bathrobe of normal size could fit him. To ensure flawless service to our guests, Yvonne ventured to tailor-make a bathrobe for the guest. On the business front, Yvonne has been equally successful because she always thinks out of the box and tries to secure more business for the hotel. This year, thanks to her hard work, we managed to receive two additional orders by taking up laundry service for two outside restaurants located at the same shopping mall with us. These two orders have translated an additional income of USD$6,000 per month to us. People around Yvonne are always impressed by her “Can-do” attitude. No matter what kind of costumes we needed for our Annual Team Member Party, Yvonne never failed us, because she and her team always made fabulous and innovative costumes that fully matched the occasion. Another example is that before a guest came to our hotel for his business immersion program in 2011, we had difficulty to determine which uniform size would fit him because none of us had had a chance to meet him in person. To our surprise, Yvonne helped us through by just judging from a recent photo of the guest in which he stood beside a flip chart, she made a perfect guess on his height. It was amazing that the set of uniforms that we had made for him, in accordance with Yvonne’s conjecture, suited him well. The saying that “it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks” never applies to Yvonne. Despite her proximity to retirement age, she is always willing to learn new things and broaden her horizons. To name a few, computer skills as well as Management Training are her recent pursuits. Because of her positive attitude and innovativeness, Yvonne is well-liked and highly respected by our Team Members. In her daily operations, Yvonne has undoubtedly manifested Conrad’s core values. In recognition of her continuously significant contributions to the hotel, we are proud to nominate Yvonne for the “Luxury of Being Yourself” Award. ——— On the business front, Yvonne has been equally successful because she always thinks out of the box and tries to secure more business for the hotel.
